Rolex GMT-Master II 126710GRNR with FINX protection film

Rolex GMT-Master II Protection Film: Jubilee Stretch, Bezel Edges and Daily Wear

The GMT-Master II is a travel watch that spends its life against desks, luggage handles and airport trays. Two areas take almost all of the damage: the bracelet and the polished metal around the bezel.

1. Jubilee bracelet stretch

A Jubilee bracelet has five link rows, which means many more contact points than an Oyster. Over years the links and pins wear against each other, the bracelet loosens, and the polished centre links pick up hairlines from every surface they touch. Stretch cannot be reversed; the bracelet has to be replaced.

Film on the link surfaces reduces the friction that drives it, and keeps the polished centre rows looking new.

2. Bezel surround and crown guards

The Cerachrom insert is very scratch resistant, but the polished steel edge around it is not, and neither are the crown guards. These are the parts that catch doorframes and car doors.

3. The clasp

The Oysterlock clasp faces whatever your wrist rests on. On most GMTs we see, the clasp has more marks than the entire rest of the watch combined.

What a FINX kit covers

Case flanks, lugs, crown guards, bezel surround, bracelet links and clasp, cut for the exact reference in FINX Optical Transparent Film: ultra-thin, patented, highly transparent, self-healing and removable without residue. GMT kits are US$150.

We cut film for 15 GMT-Master II references, including 126710BLRO (Pepsi), 126710BLNR (Batman), 126710GRNR, 126711CHNR, 126715CHNR, 126720VTNR and 116718LN. Jubilee and Oyster bracelet versions use different patterns, so check which one you have before ordering.

Travel habits that reduce wear

  • Put the watch in a soft pouch, not directly in the security tray.
  • Avoid resting the clasp on the armrest during long flights.
  • Rinse the bracelet with fresh water after beach or pool days; salt and sand accelerate stretch.

FAQ

Will film stop bracelet stretch completely?

No. Stretch comes from wear inside the links and pins as well as on the surface. Film reduces surface friction and keeps the finish intact, but a heavily worn bracelet still needs service.

Can I still rotate the bezel?

Yes. The bezel itself is left free; film covers the surrounding metal.

Jubilee or Oyster — does the kit differ?

Yes, the link shapes are different, so each has its own pattern.

Can I fit it myself?

Yes, or have it installed at our Bangkok, Singapore or Shanghai stores.
