Omega Seamaster Diver 300M with FINX protection film

Omega Watch Protection Film: Speedmaster, Seamaster and Where Wear Starts

Omega cases are finished to a very high standard for the money, and that finishing is exactly what daily wear removes first. This guide covers where Speedmaster and Seamaster wear starts, and how a precision-cut film keeps the watch original.

Speedmaster: the parts that mark first

  • Polished case flanks. The Moonwatch has broad polished sides that catch desks and doorframes.
  • Lyre lugs. Their twisted geometry is hard to protect with generic film and easy to scuff.
  • The clasp. Most visible marks on any Speedmaster are here.
  • Brushed bracelet links. Sleeve friction slowly turns satin into shine.

Seamaster Diver 300M: the parts that mark first

  • Ceramic bezel edge. Ceramic resists scratches but the polished metal around it does not.
  • Case sides and helium escape valve area. Contact points when the watch is worn under a cuff.
  • Bracelet links and clasp. The wave-pattern bracelet shows hairlines clearly on its polished sections.

Titanium, steel and gold behave differently

Titanium versions, including the 007 Edition, are lighter but mark more easily than steel and are harder to restore because the finish is not simply polished back. Sedna and Moonshine gold are soft and best protected before the first scratch, not after.

What a FINX kit covers

Each kit is cut for one Omega reference and covers case sides, lugs, bezel surround where applicable, bracelet links and clasp with FINX Optical Transparent Film: ultra-thin, patented, highly transparent, self-healing, and removable without residue. Omega kits are US$150.

Film or polishing?

Omega service includes refinishing, and it is done well, but it still removes metal and softens the sharp transitions between brushed and polished surfaces. If you want the watch to stay as it left the factory — especially a limited edition — film first, refinish much later.

FAQ

Will film fit over a ceramic bezel?

Kits are cut for the metal surfaces. Ceramic bezels are left exposed because they resist scratching far better than the surrounding case.

Does the film affect water resistance?

No. It sits on the outside of the case and does not touch the gaskets or the caseback seal.

Can I still use the bracelet micro-adjustment?

Yes. The clasp pieces are cut to leave the mechanism free.

My reference is not listed.

Request a custom cut with the reference number and we will develop the pattern.
